Stay Active at Palmer Park

THOSE aged 50 and above are being encouraged to ‘Stay Active’, with a new session starting at Palmer Park next week.

Following the success of the 50+ Stay Active morning session at Meadway Sports Centre, a further session is being launched at Palmer Park on Tuesday 4 July. The multi-activity morning session, which will be held between 9am and 1.30pm, is a perfect way for over 50’s to try different activities.

In partnership with New Directions, the first week will be free of charge to all, and will include a variety of classes including Tai Chi, Seated Exercise Class, and use of the gym.

Reading’s Lead Councillor for Culture, Sport and Consumer Services, Sarah Hacker commented:

“The health benefits of exercising later in life are well known. Sessions like these are a great opportunity to keep fit for longer, or even get back into fitness at a pace suited to you. I am pleased to see how popular the sessions have been at Meadway, and I hope this one will be just as popular.”

The normal cost of the session will be £4.50, or free to those with a silver or gold Active Reading Sport and Leisure membership. Further information is available by contacting Palmer Park on 0118 937 5080.
