MEADWAY Leisure Centre pool is to close for a week while essential maintenance work is carried out.
The swimming pool will be closed to the public from Monday 12 June for one week to allow new boilers and an air handler unit to be installed. The pool will reopen on Monday 19 June.
The works will result in a more efficient pool heating system and improved air quality within both the changing rooms and poolside. The rest of the site will remain open for the gym, exercise classes and sports bookings while the work is taking place.
Councillor Sarah Hacker, Reading’s Lead Member for Culture, Sport and Consumer Services, said:
“Although the closure will undoubtedly cause some inconvenience to the users of this popular facility, these works will help to ensure that the pool can continue to serve the community, and unfortunately they simply cannot be safely carried out while the pool is open.”
