ThE MAYOR’S Charity Christmas Cards are now on sale at locations throughout the town.
The cards come in two designs, one created by children and staff of Dingley’s Promise and the other by Readibus, two of the Mayor’s chosen charities.
The cards are available at The Hexagon, The Town Hall, Cards for Good Causes in St Mary’s Church and Sonning Flowers, 35-37 St Mary’s Butts.
Cards cost £1.50 each and the full amount will be donated to the Mayor’s Charities.
All money raised from the sale of the cards will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities, which include Dingley’s Promise, Readibus and The Alzheimer’s Society.
Reading’s Mayor, Mohammed Ayub, said:
“Everything we raise from the sale of these Christmas Cards will go to three very worthy causes. We have two fantastic designs available – so please dig deep, pick up a pack of our cards and help support Dingley’s Promise, Readibus and The Alzheimer’s Society.”
For over 30 years, Dingley’s Promise has given life changing support to under 5’s with additional needs & disabilities and their families. Their amazing staff and volunteers provide specialist learning through play sessions, provide family support and give advice to mainstream nurseries to build wider inclusion in the early years.
Readibus have been providing a dial-a-ride service for people in Reading with restricted mobility since 1981 when it was launched by Sir Peter Baldwin and the Mayor of Reading Cllr Basil Dunning. Readibus now drives more than 380,000 miles locally per year and helps 3,500 local people.
The Alzheimer’s Society
The Alzheimer’s Society help people with dementia caused by the brain being affected by certain diseases or conditions. About 850,000 live with dementia in the UK and two thirds of the cost of dementia is picked up by people with dementia and their families.
