PALMER PARK LIBRARY will temporarily close for five weeks in November for essential maintenance work.
Following a routine inspection from the Council’s property services team, an issue was identified with the plaster in several locations around the library, necessitating its removal and replacement.
The work is expected to take approximately 5 weeks, during which time the library will be
unavailable for use by the public. The site will be emptied of books due to the nature of the repair work and the likely dust created.
The plan is for the library to close at 4pm on November 12th and re-open 9am on Monday 19th December 2016.
Councillor Paul Gittings, Reading’s Lead Member for Culture, Sport and Consumer Services, said:
“These essential works necessitate this temporary closure and are needed to ensure the building is fit for purpose. We apologise for any inconvenience for library users, however, exchange dates will be extended and books can also be returned to any of the other Reading libraries.”
