RESIDENTS who want to vote in the up and coming General Election have just a fortnight left to register to vote.
Monday May 22nd is deadline day for people wanting to register. Any application made after that date will not be accepted.
The quickest and easiest way to register to vote on June 8th is online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Local residents can obtain a paper copy of the registration form by contacting Reading’s electoral registration office direct on 0118 937 3717.
Under the new system of Individual Electoral Registration (IER) introduced by Government, every individual is now responsible for registering themselves to vote. Previously, one person in every household was responsible for registering everyone else who lives at that address.
People who want to vote in the 2017 General Election by post need to be registered under IER. The Electoral Services Team have to receive completed and signed postal vote application forms by 5pm on Tuesday 23rd May at the latest.
Anyone who is unsure whether they are registered, should contact the Council’s electoral registration team by email on firstname.lastname@example.org.
